Mr. Fred Dotson, Associate
"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God" (Job 19:25, 26).
Fred was born on August 13, 1962 in Abington VA , the youngest of five children raised by Claude and Geraldine Dotson. After the family relocated to Bulls Gap TN in 1968, Fred spent his childhood in a loving family environment. Although his parents were not active churchgoers, Fred started attending Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church with some neighbors who were devout Christians. At Shady Grove, Fred learned of God's love and the grace and mercy he expressed through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Christ. Although conviction of his sins was present at an early age, Fred did not yield to the call of the Holy Spirit. Instead he drew away from God's call and fell deeper into sin, struggling with alcohol and drug abuse throughout his teenage years.
At the age of 21, the weight of his sin had brought him to the point of contemplating suicide, but God's grace brought conviction to his heart once again and this time he gave his life to the Lord. Fred's quest for a new life took him to Columbus , Ohio where he met his wife, Susan. They were married on February 16, 1985 . In October of that year they moved back to East Tennessee to start a family. They now have five children: Sarah, Brad, Jessica, Brittney, Courtney; and one grandson, Dru.
Fred answered his call into the ministry in February 2005, and has been serving as the church's Associate Pastor and Adult Sunday School Teacher. He also retains the position of Tooling Engineering Manager for Renold Jeffrey Corporation in Morristown , where he and his family currently reside. |
